Medical Insurance:
The Waukegan Public School District offers two health insurance plans. The district will pay the single premium for the employee for the plan that is chosen. Dependent coverage may be purchased at various costs.
The PPO Plan (http://www.bcbsil.com) is a self-insured plan administered by Blue Cross. Please see the “Benefit Highlights” of the plan concerning coverage.
The district also offers HMO Illinois (http://www.bcbsil.com) as an alternate to the PPO. Please refer to the ”Description of Coverage” for the managed care plan.
Dental Coverage:
Waukegan School District offers one dental PPO Plan. It is a self-insured plan administered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. For details, please visit the Dental Benefit Highlights sheet.
Cafeteria Plan (Section 125 Flexible Spending Program:
An added benefit is the district’s Flexible Spending Program. An employee may take advantage of the pre-tax benefits by using it for:
- Dependent Care
- Unreimbursed medical and dental expenses
- Pre-taxing dependent premiums
The Cafeteria Plan’s open enrollment is in September and the benefit period is October 1 - September 30.
Employee Assistance Program
The District offers an EAP program through Perspectives LTD. (http://www.perspectivesltd.com) The EAP covers a wide range of issues that an employee may be experiencing. Please visit the website for additional information.
Retirement Plan:
- IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) http://www.imrf.org/ for non-certified employees.
- TRS (Teachers Retirement System) for all certified personnel.
