Food Service for Waukegan Public School District 60 is by Chartwells Educational Dining Services. The mission of Chartwells is Eat-Learn-Live.

Chartwells menus are designed to meet the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for the following key nutrients:

• Calories
• Protein
• Calcium
• Iron
• Vitamin A
• Vitamin D

In addition, the 2005 US Dietary Guideline recommendations are incorporated into Chartwells menu planning in the following ways:

• No more than 30% calories from fat
• No more than 10% calories from saturated fat
• Minimize trans fats, sodium, and cholesterol
• Maximize dietary fiber
• Promote whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and low fat dairy choices

Research shows that children who eat a healthy breakfast show increased attention at school, visit the nurse less often, and have lower rates of tardiness and absenteeism.

Because of these overwhelming statistics in favor of school breakfast, Chartwells invites our youngest customers to "Brake for Breakfast" with us and get fueled for the day! We greet our older students with more upscale service and selections from our "Morning Editions" breakfast menu.

Chartwells fuels hungry minds for success in the cafeteria, classroom and in life. Without healthy, Balanced Choices to keep them energized, students cannot learn. Chartwells' initiatives also include improving education in the classroom, setting the stage for a lifetime of smart dining decisions.
