Whittier Kindergarten Center was named after John Greenleaf Whittier, one of America’s best-known poets. In keeping with his philosophy, we emphasize the importance of achieving the dreams of students, families and teachers. Mr Whittier once said, “Of all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these: It might have been!”
Our school strives to create an environment where skilled professionals provide a strategically planned education to guide students toward their individual educational best. Reading and Math curricula correlate directly to Illinois State Learning Standards. Our desire is to instill a strong learning foundation so that when our students return to their elementary sites, grades 1 through 5, they will be fundamentally and educationally prepared for the curriculum in first grade. When families work together to partner with the school, we will have then provided each child with an excellent academic start.
Whittier School enjoys a rich heritage of excellence in education. We stand ready to provide every child with a high-quality kindergarten year.
