AAC Framework
Purpose: The purpose of the Public School District Access Advisory Council (AAC) is to
mobilize and engage all stakeholders to identify existing or emerging Equity issues within the
district in order to transform the system to ensure a high-quality education for every student.
The council will collaborate with district leadership to identify and address disparities, promote
inclusivity, and foster a culturally responsive educational environment.
Mission: The mission of the Office of Student Access & Achievement is to uphold a culture of
inclusion that embraces diversity. Our department will lead the district’s collaborative efforts in
building a culture of equity and inclusion for ALL students, families, employees, and community
members. This office will support these efforts by assessing and cultivating the district’s equity
plan to ensure equity, access, and excellence for all. The Access Advisory Council's mission is to
advance equity and social justice in the district's educational system by advocating for policies, programs, and initiatives that eliminate barriers and create an inclusive and fair learning environment for every student.
Composition: The Access Advisory Council shall be composed of diverse stakeholders
committed to educational equity. Members should represent various perspectives, including but
not limited to:
- Parents and guardians
- Students
- Teachers and educators
- School administrators
- Community members
- Local advocacy organizations
- District staff members
Roles and Responsibilities: The Access Advisory Council will assist with the following:
- Equitable Policy Review and Recommendations:
- Review existing district policies and practices to assess their equity impact.
- Provide recommendations to the school district on policy changes, additions, or modifications that promote equity.
- Collaborate with the district administration to develop and implement equitable policies and procedures.
- Support and develop new DEI-focused initiatives:
- Provide feedback on current and new initiatives.
- Establish a Task Force to lead new initiatives.
- Community Engagement
- Foster open and transparent communication between the school district and the community to ensure diverse voices are heard.
- Participate in forums, workshops, and DEI events to discuss equity-related matters with parents, students, and community members.
Meeting Frequency: The Access Advisory Council shall meet regularly, on a monthly basis, or
as needed to address pressing equity matters.
The Access Advisory Council serves as a critical body to guide the school district's efforts in achieving educational equity. Through collaborative efforts, policy recommendations, community engagement, and advocacy, the council aims to create a school system where all students have the opportunity to thrive regardless of their backgrounds.
