Edgar Castellanos Selected to Fill Board Vacancy

Mr. Edgar Castellanos has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 Board of Education. Mr. Castellanos was appointed during the February 11 Board Meeting to replace Mr. Michael Rodriguez, who resigned last month.
 
Mr. Castellanos is a Waukegan resident and a District 60 parent. He works as a Communications Facilitator in Zion District 6, and is a graduate of DePaul University. Mr. Castellanos is involved with the Oakdale Elementary School PTO, and is an appointed member of the City of Waukegan Comprehensive Land Use Plan Steering Committee.
 
The Board of Education voted unanimously in favor of appointing Mr. Castellanos, following interviews with nine applicants to fill the vacant seat on the Board.
 
Mr. Castellanos’s appointment begins immediately. His term will expire in April 2021, at which point he will be eligible to run for election.
