FUTP60 LogoFour Waukegan Elementary Schools have been selected to receive Fuel Up to Play 60 breakfast grants. Students and staff at Clark, Hyde Park, Whittier and Cooke Magnet elementary schools learned last month their schools had been selected as recipients of the Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60) Breakfast Opportunity Grant.

The FUTP60 grant will provide each school with $2,000 in funding, which will be utilized to purchase additional equipment and supplies to enhance its current breakfast program. The Breakfast grant aims to assist schools in increasing student participation in its breakfast program, as well as improving access to nutritious foods by offering easy grab-and-go breakfasts.

This grant is provided by GENYOUTH and United Healthcare, and schools across the state participating in the Fuel Up to Play program had the opportunity to apply for the grant. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a national in-school health and wellness program launched by the National Football League and National Dairy Council, whose primary focus is to help schools meet their wellness goals.
