The Waukegan Community Unit District #60 Board of Education is looking for current WHS sophomores and juniors to apply for its soon-to-be open Student Board Member position for 2021.

 

The Student Board Member is a non-voting member of the Board of Education who acts as a liaison between the students and school board. The selected student is given time on each School Board Meeting agenda to speak regarding student concerns, curriculum, and activities. 

 

A student must meet the following requirements to apply for the position of Student Board Member:

1. Be a WHS junior or sophomore student during the 2020-2021 school year.

2. Have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

3. Submit a one-page personal bio (double-spaced) outlining student’s abilities, goals, and reasons why he/she is the best choice as a Student Board Member.

4. Submit written responses to the following questions:

      a. Why are you interested in being a Student Board Member?

      b. What do you feel is the most important issue that Waukegan students face today?

      c. How would you engage your fellow students to ensure their voices are heard?

5. Provide one written reference from a teacher, administrator, or community member.

6. Provide contact information, including phone number and/or e-mail address.
