Dear Families and Staff,

Last week we made a major announcement when we released details of our Hybrid Re-Entry Plan. We stated during this presentation that our District currently has no set date for the return for in-person instruction. This remains true, however, we do have an update to share today.

Over the last several weeks, our community has seen some positive trends in local COVID-19 metrics. Incidence rates and positivity rates continue to move in a positive direction, and it was just announced that Region 9 (Lake and McHenry counties) have moved into Tier 1 mitigations. Additionally, we have seen an increase in vaccinations, with plans in the works to further increase vaccinations for essential workers, including educators. While the current trends are promising, with our tentative return date of February 16 quickly approaching, we do not feel we can make a decision about return to in-person instruction quite yet.

It is with this in mind that today we are announcing we will be extending remote instruction through at least Monday, March 1. This will allow us the time to further monitor COVID-19 metrics and infection rates, as well as allow for more individuals to be vaccinated. As we’ve stated previously, the transition into hybrid learning will not be made until we believe it is safe to do so, based on relevant metrics, and the recommendations of health experts.

These decisions are never easy, and we appreciate our parents and staff continued patience and perseverance during this time. Details about our Hybrid Re-Entry Plan, for when we do eventually return to in-person instruction can be found on our website in English and Spanish. We encourage everyone to review those details, and as always important updates can be found on our COVID-19 page.

Thank you.

Gracias.
