This week’s Spotlight on 60 focused on Oakdale Elementary School’s Reading Power program. 


Action Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the Facility Rental Waiver Request submitted by Black Lives Matter of Lake County. The fees associated with the rental total $1,347. Black Lives Matter will hold the BLM 7th Annual Awards Banquet at John Lewis Middle School on November 6, 2022.

The Board of Education voted to approve the Facility Rental Waiver Request submitted by Latinos FC Soccer. The fees associated with the facility rental are $6,616. Latinos FC formally known as Dragons LC has reserved the gym at Robert Abbott Middle School, Tuesdays thru Thursdays from 6:30PM to 8:00PM, October - April to hold youth soccer practice.

The Board of Education voted to approve the upgrade of the District's current security system at the following sites: WHS Brookside Campus, Warehouse, Operations, Cooke, McCall, Clark, Oakdale and Lyon. The quoted total is $323,425. The final total is $355,757.50, which includes a 10% contingency of $32,342.

The Board of Education voted to  approve the travel and expenses for the JROTC Raiders National trip to Molena, GA from November 4-7, 2022 at a cost of $16,407.

The Board of Education voted  against a recommendation by administration to renovate the masonry wall at the entrance at Lincoln Center parallel to Sheridan Road. The Administration provided information and recommendation options during the September 13, Board of Education meeting.  Of the recommendation options provided, the Administration is recommending that the Board of Education authorize the option that includes removal of the existing wall and replacing it with an ornamental fence and brick columns.

The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments, resignations and terminations of 14 employees. 


Information Items

The Board of Education reviewed revisions to Policy 3505, School Transportation. No action was taken on this item.
