This month Waukegan Community Unit School District #60 will be joining school districts and organizations across the country in observance of the National Day of Racial Healing.

The National Day of Racial Healing takes place annually the day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This year it will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17.

The day offers people, organizations and communities a day set aside for racial healing, bringing people together to take collective action for a more just and equitable world. Racial healing is defined as a process that restores individuals and communities to wholeness, repairs the damage caused by racism and transforms societal structures into ones that affirm the inherent value of all people.

As part of our observance of the day, students and staff will receive a variety of resources, and engage in activities all designed to foster racial healing.
