Cooke Magnet School is now accepting applications from parents wishing to enroll their children in the school for the fall. The online application can be accessed here. The deadline to complete the application is March 31, 2025. 

Cooke is a fine arts-focused elementary school, with a curriculum rich in art, music, and science. There are currently openings for students entering kindergarten, with limited openings for students entering grades 1-5. Attendance is open to any kindergarten through 5th grade child living within Waukegan Public Schools’ boundaries. 

Following the application process, students will be required to take a placement test. Families will receive information about testing dates and times in mid-April. Testing will take approximately 60 minutes and will be offered during the day and after school hours. 

All families interested in applying are encouraged to attend the school's Recruitment Night at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 28 at Cooke. During the event families will have the opportunity to learn more about the school, as well as the application process. 

Please note: This application is not the same as registration. All students must register through the District or their current school.

For new students: If any other language other than English is spoken at home, parents are asked to please contact the Welcome Center at 224-303-3630 to set up an appointment for a required language test.

La Escuela Cooke Magnet está aceptando aplicaciones para los padres que deseen inscribir a sus hijos en la escuela para el otoño. La solicitud en línea se puede acceder aquí. La fecha límite para completar la solicitud es el domingo, 31 de marzo.  

Cooke actualmente tiene vacantes para estudiantes que ingresan a kinder, con cupo limitado para estudiantes que ingresan a los grados 1-5. La asistencia está abierta a cualquier niño de kínder a 5to grado que viva dentro de los límites de las Escuelas Públicas de Waukegan. Cooke es una escuela elemental enfocada en las bellas artes, con un currículo abundante en arte, música y ciencias. 

Después del proceso de la aplicación, los estudiantes deberán realizar una prueba de colocación. Las familias recibirán información sobre las fechas y horarios de las pruebas a mediados de abril. Las pruebas durarán aproximadamente 60 minutos y se ofrecerán durante el día y después del horario escolar. 

Nota: Esta aplicación no es lo mismo que la inscripción. Todos los estudiantes deben inscribirse a través del Distrito o de su escuela actual.

Para estudiantes nuevos: Si en casa se habla otro idioma que no sea el inglés, se pide a los padres que se pongan en contacto con el Centro de Bienvenida al 224-303-3630 para hacer una cita para la prueba de idioma obligatoria.
