As this school year gets underway, we understand that many families in our community may be feeling concerned or uncertain about changes and challenges related to immigration. Waukegan Public Schools is committed to offering information, resources, and support during this time.
To help address these concerns, we will host two special Know Your Rights presentations focused on immigration-related topics, including encounters with ICE, how to be an ally, and creating a safety plan. Led by Belany Contreras, with the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic, these events will provide advice and resources to help families navigate immigration challenges.
Live presentations will be conducted in both English and Spanish on the District’s YouTube channel.

Following each session, a Q&A will be held to give participants the opportunity to have their specific questions answered.
These presentations reflect our District’s ongoing commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students. We encourage community members to tune in online for valuable guidance and resources.

Al comenzar este año escolar, entendemos que muchas familias de nuestra comunidad puedan sentirse preocupadas o inseguras ante los cambios y desafíos relacionados con la inmigración. Las Escuelas Públicas de Waukegan se comprometen a ofrecer información, recursos y apoyo durante este período.
