District 60’s Diverse Learners Department will host its first Parent-to-Parent Special Education Network support group meeting of the school year on Thursday, October 2, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Welcome Center, 742 W. Greenwood Avenue.
Families are asked to enter the Chestnut Street door across from the parking lot. Dinner will be provided for Waukegan Public Schools’ Diverse Learners families who RSVP by September 25 to Parent and Community Partnership Coordinator Tim Kirschner at [email protected] or 224-588-0821.
The Parent-to-Parent Special Education Network provides a network of support for Diverse Learner families and meets at least quarterly to discuss a variety of important topics and resources. Families have the opportunity to network in an effort to continue building a supportive community of Diverse Learner families.
During the meeting, District staff will share resources and answer parent questions. Simultaneous Spanish translation will be provided. Additionally, during the first meeting, representatives from the Waukegan Park District will present on special recreation programs.

El Departamento de Estudiantes Diversos del Distrito 60 organizará su primera reunión del grupo de apoyo de la Red de Educación Especial de Padres a Padres del año escolar el jueves 2 de octubre, de 6:00 p.m. a 7:30 p.m. en el Centro de Bienvenida, 742 W. Greenwood Avenue.
Se ruega a las familias que entren por la puerta de Chestnut Street, frente al estacionamiento. Se ofrecerá una cena a las familias de Estudiantes Diversos de las Escuelas Públicas de Waukegan que confirmen su asistencia antes del 25 de septiembre, contactando al Coordinador de Colaboración de Padres y Comunidad, Tim Kirschner, a [email protected] o al 224-588-0821.
La Red de Educación Especial de Padres a Padres ofrece apoyo a familias con estudiantes diversos y se reúne al menos trimestralmente para hablar diversos temas y recursos importantes. Las familias tienen la oportunidad de establecer contactos para seguir construyendo una comunidad de apoyo para familias con Estudiantes Diversos.
Durante la reunión, el personal del Distrito compartirá recursos y responderá las preguntas de los padres. Se ofrecerá traducción simultánea al español. Además, durante la primera reunión, representantes del Distrito de Parques de Waukegan presentarán programas especiales de recreación.
