The Waukegan Community Unit School District Board of Education is seeking two students to serve as Student Board Members for the 2025-2026 school year. Any student who will be a sophomore, junior, or senior next year is eligible to apply.
Last year, the selection process and terms of Student Board Members were updated. The Board now selects two students to serve a one-year term each, with one representative from each campus (Brookside and Washington). The term for Student Board Members runs from July 1 to June 30.
Now through May 4, 2025, the Board will be accepting applications from qualified freshmen, sophomores, and juniors interested in serving a one-year term. The Student Board Member is a non-voting member of the Board of Education who acts as a liaison between students and the School Board. The selected students are given time on each School Board Meeting agenda to speak regarding student concerns, curriculum, and activities.
