Waukegan Public School’s Family and Community Engagement Department will host its annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration on Thursday, May 8.
This year’s theme, “A Legacy of Leadership and Resilience,” honors individuals who have established a foundation for future generations to thrive and adapt to change and adversity.
The event will be held on Thursday, May 8 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Jack Benny Middle School, 1401 Montesano Avenue.
During the event students will present creative displays showcasing influential figures from the many cultures that make up the AANHPI community. Following the showcase, enjoy student-led on-stage performances that celebrate the music, dance, and stories of this vibrant heritage.
All are welcome to the event, families may register to participate in the event here, through Google Forms. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required.

El Departamento de Participación Familiar y Comunitaria de las Escuelas Públicas de Waukegan será anfitrión de su celebración anual del Mes de la Herencia Asiático-Americana e Isleño del Pacífico el jueves, 8 de mayo.
El tema de este año, “Un Legado de Liderazgo y Resistencia” honra a las personas que han establecido una base para que las futuras generaciones prosperen y se adapten al cambio y la adversidad. El evento se llevará a cabo el jueves, 8 de mayo a partir de las 5:30 p.m. en la Escuela Intermedia Jack Benny, 1401 Montesano Avenue.
Durante el evento, los estudiantes presentarán exhibiciones creativas que representan a figuras influyentes de las diversas culturas que forman la comunidad AANHPI. Después de la exhibición, disfrute de las presentaciones dirigidas por estudiantes que celebran la música, la danza y las historias de esta vibrante herencia.
Todos son bienvenidos al evento. Las familias pueden inscribirse para participar en el evento a través de Google Forms. Se recomienda la preinscripción, pero no es obligatoria.
