As part of District 60’s continued commitment to preventing bullying and recognizing National Bullying Prevention Month, Waukegan Public Schools students and staff will once again participate in a series of anti-bullying activities and lessons throughout October.

This year’s theme, “Unite Against Bullying,” focuses on promoting a consistent and unified message across all schools. Each school will participate in coordinated efforts to raise awareness and encourage a culture of kindness and respect.

Schools will be dedicating class time and putting on special activities throughout the month to educate students on choosing respect and uniting against bullying.

As part of our observance, the District will hold a special “Unite Against Bullying” spirit week from October 21-25, during which students and staff can participate in daily themed events. The schedule for the week is as follows:

Monday, October 21 - No One Eats Alone - Find someone new and interact with them. Sit with them at lunch, play with them at recess, and Say hi in the hallway, the possibilities are endless.

Tuesday, October 22 - Compliment Chain - Time to Unite: On strips of orange sheets of paper, write a compliment to a fellow student, colleague, teacher, or employee. Form a chain and hang it up for display during Parent/Teacher Conferences!

Wednesday, October 23—Wear Orange Day—Show how we unite against Bullying by wearing something Orange! (Socks, shirts, pants, hair, bracelets, shoes, have fun with it!)

Thursday, October 24 - Superhero Day - Dress up as your favorite Superhero! Teach students to stand and unite against bullying by being a superhero.

Friday, October 25 - Unity Walk- Take ten minutes today to walk with your family, friends, or colleagues and unite against Bullying!
