Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 is teaming up with Known to Win clothing brand to host an official Guinness Book of World Records attempt to form the longest ever Soul Train Line as part of this month’s Summer Student Celebration event.

A Soul Train line refers to a type of group dance in which participants form two lines with a space in the middle for dancers to strut down in consecutive order. The current record for longest soul train line is 426 people, and the goal of the event is to get at least 800 people to participate.

The celebration will take place Sunday, July 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to individuals of all ages. The Soul Train line will begin at 5:30 p.m. In addition to the Soul Train record attempt, the event will feature a DJ, free food, as well as various other activities.

“We wanted to provide a safe space to celebrate with the youth of Waukegan by providing this fun opportunity during the summer with food, games, and music. I want our young people to feel loved, supported, and valued by their community.” said Mr. Brandon Ewing, District 60 School Board President, and one of the event's organizers. “Unfortunately in our community there are not many places or spaces where our youth can just be carefree and have fun.”

Any businesses or organizations interested in participating can email Mr. Ewing at  bewing@wps60.org or Mr. David Davis at ddavis1232@yahoo.com.
