Miguel Juarez Middle School in Waukegan has been honored as a School of Distinction by the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) for its outstanding efforts in implementing best practices as part of the school’s growth initiatives, and for transforming school culture and climate.
Juarez was one of just 17 schools nationwide, and one of two in Illinois, to receive this prestigious recognition. The AMLE Schools of Distinction program acknowledges exemplary schools and supports them through strategic vision-setting processes to encourage ongoing growth and success, according to AMLE. Schools that meet the program's criteria are recognized annually by AMLE.
The designation follows a rigorous evaluation process that required Juarez to demonstrate its commitment to middle grades best practices and continuous improvement. The selection process included interviews with key stakeholders, including staff, students, and families.
“I am excited and privileged to receive this award on behalf of the entire Miguel Juarez Tiger Family! Our staff has wholeheartedly embraced our mission to provide a safe learning environment where all our scholars can achieve the high levels of learning necessary for success in college, career, and community,” said Mr. Nelson Campos, Principal of Juarez Middle School.
Miguel Juarez Middle School will be recognized and will present its exemplary practices at AMLE’s Annual Conference for Middle Level Education, taking place in Nashville this November.
