The Waukegan Schools Foundation is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day in a big way with its annual “Treat-a-Teacher” event on Tuesday, May 6. The community is invited to join the celebration from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Yorkhouse Tavern and Table, located at 4555 W. Yorkhouse Road in Waukegan.

The event is an opportunity to thank Waukegan educators for their dedication and commitment. Waukegan staff members who present their District ID will receive 20% off their entrée and will be entered into a drawing for a variety of door prizes.

In addition to celebrating teachers, the evening will serve as a fundraiser for the Foundation’s annual Teacher Grants program. Each year, the Foundation awards up to 10 grants—valued at $1,000 each—to educators for innovative classroom projects that enhance curriculum and enrich student learning. Community participation in this event helps make those grants possible.

The evening will feature Yorkhouse’s popular Taco Tuesday menu, along with raffle drawings at 7:30 p.m. Attendees do not need to be present to win.

All are encouraged to attend and show their support for the teachers who make a difference in the lives of Waukegan students every day.
