For the second time in as many weeks, a Waukegan Public Schools educator has been recognized by the Chicago Bears as a “Classroom Legend.”
Ms. Lesley Bracero, an ESL early childhood teacher at Lightfoot Early Learning Center, received a special surprise this week when Bears representatives, along with mascot Staley Da Bear, visited her classroom to honor her. Staley’s visit was an especially big hit with Ms. Bracero’s young students, who joined in the celebration.
The Bears’ Classroom Legends program, powered by CDW, recognizes Chicagoland educators who go above and beyond to support their students and make a difference in their school communities.
Ms. Bracero is a longtime Waukegan Public Schools educator who has served the District for more than 30 years. The honor recognized her decades of dedication to students and the lasting impact she has made on Waukegan learners.
As part of the recognition, Ms. Bracero received a $1,000 classroom grant, custom Bears gear, a commemorative football, and tickets to an upcoming Bears game.
The recognition comes just one week after Miguel Juarez Middle School teacher Dr. Cindy Stockman was surprised with the same award.
