Ms. Bracero has dedicated more than 30 years to Waukegan Public Schools. She received a $1,000 classroom grant, Bears gear and tickets to an upcoming game as part of the honor.
Ms. Bracero is the second WPS educator in just two weeks to receive the Classroom Legend recognition. Congratulations, Ms. Bracero!

Schools will recognize Hispanic Heritage Month in a variety of ways, with activities and celebrations planned throughout the District. Families are encouraged to follow their school’s website and social media pages for information about events and activities happening at their school.
Our celebrations will also include our annual Districtwide Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Thursday, October 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waukegan High School’s Brookside Campus. This year’s theme, “Unidos, Somos Más!” (Together, We Are More!), will bring families together for an evening of music, food, performances, activities, and fun for all ages.

Congratulations to Dr. Cynthia “Cindy” Stockman, a social studies and AVID teacher at Miguel Juarez Middle School, who received a special surprise today!
Representatives from the Chicago Bears visited Juarez to recognize Dr. Stockman as a Classroom Legend. She was nominated by her own students, who shared how much she cares for them and the many ways she goes above and beyond to support them.
Dr. Stockman, who has been at Juarez since 2019, received a $1,000 classroom grant, a commemorative Bears football, and an invitation to attend the Bears’ home opener later this month. Congratulations, Dr. Stockman!

Our annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration is Thursday, October 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waukegan High School’s Brookside Campus. Enjoy live performances, dance lessons, Lotería, traditional foods, music from DJ Fito, activities for all ages, prizes, and more!
This year’s theme is “Unidos, Somos Más!” (Together, We Are More!) The event is free and open to all District families.

Today, we recognize the hard work and contributions of workers throughout our community.
As a reminder, all District schools and offices are closed today in observance of Labor Day. We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday!

As a reminder, if your child will be absent, please report the absence directly to your child’s school using its designated attendance line, rather than calling the District’s main phone number. This helps ensure the information reaches the appropriate staff as quickly as possible.
Find your school’s attendance line here: https://www.wps60.org/o/wcusd/page/school-directory

Waukegan High School co-principals and middle school leaders came together to share ideas, discuss ways to strengthen communication with families, and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration.
When our schools and community partners work together, our students benefit. We’re excited to keep the conversation going and build even stronger pathways to success for Waukegan students!

We have learned that individuals using T-Mobile may receive an automated message when calling this number, indicating that it has been identified as "likely a scam" and recommending that the caller hang up. Please know that 224-303-1000 is the legitimate main phone number for Waukegan Public Schools.
At this time, the issue appears to be limited to T-Mobile callers and affects only our main District number. We are not aware of any issues affecting other District or school phone numbers.
We are working with T-Mobile and our phone system provider to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. In the meantime, T-Mobile customers who need to reach the District's main office can call 224-303-1001.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue. We will provide an update when the problem has been corrected.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a meaningful celebration. Take a look at some moments from the event.

Kaitlin’s Kitchen will give students new opportunities to take what they grow in the Lewis greenhouse and bring it into the kitchen, expanding their hands-on learning and helping make an already unique program even more robust. Following today’s ceremony, students had the chance to show off the new kitchen and some of their culinary skills for guests.
Thank you to Kaitlin’s family and friends and everyone who helped make this vision a reality. We were also grateful to be joined by so many special guests, including Congressman Brad Schneider and Mayor Sam Cunningham, to help celebrate this exciting new chapter at Lewis.

Enjoy music, dance, international food, and activities for the whole family as we celebrate the many cultures that make up our Waukegan community.
We hope to see you there!

If you did not receive an email or need assistance, please contact our Transportation Department at transportation@wps60.org.
