Waukegan Community Unit School District #60 has contracted with Illinois Central to transport our Elementary students, Middle School students and High School Special Education students. Illinois Central School Bus, LLC. is the seventh largest school bus transportation business and the second largest owner-operated school bus transportation provider in the United States. The company operates from 27 facilities located in Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is a leading regional school bus transportation business in the Midwest. The company's goal is to emphasize safety, service and efficiency.

Transportation Department Welcome

Alicia Williams: Hello, My name is Alicia Williams, I am the Coordinator for Transportation and Child Nutrition for Waukegan Public Schools, Welcome. Within this department we contract our school buses through Illinois Central School Bus Company who transports our students Pre-k thru 8th grade. Our High School students utilize Pace Regional Transit System. Within the Transportation Department we offer daycare Transportation as well as a pay to ride option for our students that do not qualify bus transportation, there are guidelines and rules we follow for both applications. These applications can be found on our district website under the Operations tab.

Also within this department, we contract our food service program through K-12 Elior. All our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch and if students attend an after school program we provide snacks. We are apart of the National School Lunch program and all our meals are prepared within the guidelines of the USDA.



BUS CHANGES AND UPDATES:  Changes that were received between 8/25/22- 09/01/22 will take effect on September 6, 2022.  We will process new information in the order that it was received.  It is the responsibility of the family to provide transportation to and from school until busing is set up.

Bus routes will take longer during the first few weeks of school.  At the end of the day, schools take a great deal of time checking make rechecking bus routes to ensure that all students are on the correct bus.  It may take up to 10-20 minutes for this process take place.

It is recommended that you make a tag for your child's book bag, that includes name and ID number and bus route number.

Parents/Guardian are recommended to contact Illinois Central School Bus Company at 847-249-4100 regarding late buses or no show buses.

For transportation changes, please contact us or your students school for further instruction.  Changes typically will take 5-7 business days to process.  It will be your responsibility to transport child  to and from school until changes have been complete.
