Carolina D. Fabian
Coordinator
Ms.Fabian is a Waukegan Native whose children currently attend
Waukegan Public Schools. She began her career in the district as a
paraprofessional in February of 2002. She then earned her Bachelor's
Degree from Illinois State University with a focus in Elementary
Education with a Type 03 certificate and began working as a Bilingual Teacher in 2006. During her
tenure as a teacher she served in several committees, was a lead
teacher, and has presented in a national conference for bilingual
educators on behalf of Waukegan Public Schools.
In 2014 she earned her Master's degree from the American College of
Education with a focus in Educational Administration and currently
holds a Type 75 certificate. Finally, in 2017, in response to
stakeholder's desire for more streamlined district accessibility, Ms.
Fabian was appointed to manage the newly established Family and
Community Engagement Department (F.A.C.E).
Currently, she is the Little Fort Lions Vice President, a member of Lake County Leaders United, and the National Institute of Educational Leadership.
Angela Ramirez
Manager
Angela began her career with Waukegan Public Schools as a proud parent of WPS students and community member since 2005. Although her career in Family and Community Engagement and Bilingual Education began long before then spanning over three decades.
Previously she worked for both non profits and other districts in various roles thus bringing a wealth of resources and knowledge with her. Angela hosted "For our Children" in ESPN 1220 AM . She was a board member for Asociación Comunitaria Latina. She has written curriculum on working with parents through the University of Illinois. Additionally she has presented at the Bilingual Parent Summit conference, The Conference for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students, The National Association of Bilingual Educators and at Early Head Conference for the State of IL, The Statewide ESSA conference and the National Community Schools and Family Engagement conference. She is certified in as a Baby Talk Instructor, Recovery Coach Instructor, Google Level 1 instructor, Nail Technician Instructor, a Medical Office Certification and an Associates of Arts in Early Education. Currently, she works between the F.A.C.E and the Bilingual and Multicultural Department. In addition to this she is an active board Member of NIRCO and Girls of Character and a Little Fort Lions Member and North Chicago Rotary Club Member.
Eric L. Thompson
Facilitator
Eric L. Thompson is a lifelong Waukegan resident is also a Waukegan High School Alumni. Thompson began his career with the school district in 2017 as safety officer at Brookside Campus. He then moved to the office of Student Supports in 2018 to fulfill the role of truancy officer. He since has been promoted to the F.A.C.E. Department as our School Outreach Facilitator. Prior to his work with WPS he worked at Menta academy where he worked with autistic students.
