Action Items

-The Board of Education voted to approve revisions to the following policies: Policy 5212 Grading; Policy 5213, Final Examinations. 

-The Board of Education voted to approve the amendments to the Parent/Student Handbook on Rights and Responsibilities for the 2021-2022 school. 

-The Board of Education voted to award an additional services change order to Maneval Construction to expand the paving replacement at Waukegan High School, Brookside Campus, to include pavement, curbs, and sidewalks. Total cost of this work is proposed at $110,000.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of Carnegie MATHia licenses, resources, and professional development for grades 9-12 in the amount of $192,330.

-The Board of Education voted to authorize the purchase of Government Alive! Student Edition in the amount of $34,300.

-The Board of Education voted to repair mechanical equipment in room 350 at Waukegan High School, Washington Campus. The recommended contractor to perform this work is Waukegan-based AirCon Refrigeration and Heating Inc.. The proposed estimated cost is $43,313.

-The Board of Education voted to approve emergency roofing repairs at North Elementary, once a final architecture investigation report is provided to district Administration. Estimated cost of repairs should not exceed $50,000, but final details will be provided to the School Board at a future meeting.

-The Board of Education voted to approve fees pertaining to Waukegan To College be retroactively waived. Waukegan To College requested to use our facilities for their Leadership Retreat which took place on July 22 through July 24. The total amount due for the reservation is $3,387.

-The Board of Education voted to approve fees pertaining to Community Action Partnership (CAP) of Lake County be waived. CAP of Lake County has requested to use our facilities for their Back to School Giveaway Event which will be held on July 31 and August 10 at Jack Benny Middle School. The total amount due for the reservation is $258.


Personnel Items

-The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments, registrations and leaves of absence of 47 employees, including appointing Ms. Jennifer Rice de la Sanchez as the Director of Teaching and Learning PreK-12 and Dr. Marcey Sorensen as Area Superintendent.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Gwen Polk to attend the 2021 CUBE Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on September 16 to September 18, 2021. The estimated cost is $1,839.56. Cost includes airfare, lodging, conference registration fees, and per diem.
