Black Parent Network Kick Off Meeting Sep. 29

Our District's Black Parent Network (BPN) will host its first meeting of the 2022-2023 school year later this month for parents interested in learning more about the BPN and connecting with other WPS60 families. The kick off will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, at the Genesee Theater, 203 N Genesee St.
The primary purpose of this kick off event will be to make introductions, as well as discuss ideas and goals for the remainder of the school year. Additionally, at the conclusion of the meeting, families will have the opportunity to attend the Kalabante Acrobats' show: “Afrique en Cirque” for free at the Genesee beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Families interested in attending the meeting and/or the performance are asked to sign up ahead of time here. Tickets are free, but limited, and will be reserved on a first come first served basis. Families who reserve tickets but fail to attend the meeting will have their tickets forfeited.
The intention of the Black Parent Network is to help stakeholders build rapport with Black and African American families to encourage trust and relationships with the goal of fostering school success from PreK to graduation. The BPN will promote cultural bridges between Waukegan Public Schools, Black and African American students, guardians, parents, and their families.

La Red de Padres Afroméricanos (BPN, por sus siglas en inglés) de nuestro Distrito será la anfitriona de su primera reunión del año escolar 2022-2023 a finales de este mes para los padres interesados en aprender más sobre la BPN y conectarse con otras familias de WPS60. El evento de lanzamiento comenzará a las 6:30 p.m. el jueves, 29 de septiembre, en el Teatro Genesee, 203 N Genesee St.
El propósito principal de este evento de lanzamiento será hacer introducciones, así como discutir ideas y metas para el resto del año escolar. Además, al final de la reunión, las familias tendrán la oportunidad de asistir al espectáculo de los Acróbatas de Kalabante: “Afrique en Cirque” de forma gratuita en el Genesee a partir de las 7:30 p.m.
Se solicita a las familias interesadas en asistir a la reunión y/o al espectáculo que se registren con anticipación aquí. Las entradas son gratuitas, pero limitadas, y se reservarán por orden de llegada. Las familias que reserven boletos pero no asistan a la reunión perderán sus boletos.
La intención de la Red de Padres Afroméricanos es ayudar a las partes interesadas a establecer una relación con las familias afroamericanas para fomentar la confianza y las relaciones con el objetivo de promover el éxito escolar desde Pre-Kínder hasta la graduación. La BPN promoverá puentes culturales entre las Escuelas Públicas de Waukegan, los estudiantes Afroaméricanos, los tutores, los padres y sus familias.
