District 60 is partnering with Waukegan-based youth art nonprofit Black Marigolds to give 20 families the opportunity to take part in a free, hands-on, 8-week art workshop. Through the program, families will study the work of several Black, Indigenous, (and) People of Color (BIPOC) artists, while exploring the dynamics and importance of color in art.

Sessions will be held each Monday beginning October 3 through November 28, with the exception of the Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday. All sessions will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at North Elementary School.

Anyone interested in applying to participate in the program may do so by clicking here. Spots are limited to 20 families, and will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. As part of the program, workshop participants will receive a free Black Marigolds art kit.

Anyone with questions can contact Black Marigold’s Executive Director Elisheba Fowlkes at [email protected].
