Waukegan Public Schools’ Black Parent Network (BPN) will host its next workshop at 6:15 p.m. next Wednesday, January 25 at Clearview Elementary. The subject of this January’s workshop is: “Motivating My Child for Higher Learning.”
The event will be led by Licensed Mental Health Counselor Norma Venable, LCPC, who as part of the workshop will instruct parents on a variety of tools they can use to help motivate children to set goals and successfully prepare for the next level of education.
All District 60 families are invited to participate in the workshop, where they will also have an opportunity to connect with other families and learn more about the BPN and its mission.
The intention of the Black Parent Network is to help stakeholders build rapport with Black and African American families to encourage trust and relationships with the goal of fostering school success from PreK to graduation. The BPN will promote cultural bridges between Waukegan Public Schools, Black and African American students, guardians, parents, and their families.
