Special Recognitions and Presentations

Representatives from the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity spoke about the organization’s Project Alpha program, and their desire to host an event in Waukegan Schools.

The Board of Education swore in Waukegan High School Junior, Joanna Gutierrez, as the newest Student Board Member. Her term will expire in January 2023.


Action Items

The Board of Education voted to approve change order #1 for HALO Smart Sensor Detectors at Waukegan High School - Washington Campus. The change order total is $1,159 resulting in a new overall contract value of $42,142.

The Board of Education voted to authorize the purchase of furniture for the Department of Student Outreach in the amount of $40,087.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of Cardonex (Education Advanced, Inc.) master scheduling software in the amount of $73,952. The Academic and Supports Programs (ASAP) team is requesting the purchase of Cardonex (Education Advanced, Inc.) scheduling software to support master scheduling efforts at our middle schools and high school.  The program builds an equitable, student-driven master schedule that saves time and efficiency with automated processes that provide students and teachers with a stable back to school experience. 

The Board of Education voted to approve an agreement with Modern Media Tech, LLC to add sound systems to the Cafeteria and Gymnasiums at Robert Abbott Middle School at a cost of $41,510.

The Board of Education voted to approve the Renewal of Aruba ClearPass Wireless Maintenance annual total cost is $78,455.

The Board of Education voted to approve a district-wide mask purchase from Office Depot at $164,415 and Grainger not to exceed $105,600; for a total of $270,015. The district has solicited pricing for N95/KN95 and 3ply surgical face masks.  The district currently has inventory of cloth face masks.  It is the District's goal to continue to ensure there is an adequate supply of replacement face masks available for district staff and students, when needed.  This volume of inventory will be immediately distributed to classrooms and offices once received at the district warehouse, making it readily available for use and reducing the amount of replacement requests from the District warehouse.


Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to  approve the appointments, resignations and retirements of 34 employees. 

The Board of Education voted to  approve the attendance of Diverse Learner administrators Dr. Cheryl Caesar, Samantha Haney, Dr. Gregory Bublitz, Teresa Clark, Dave Nissen, Denis Adams, and DyAnnah Butler at the LRP National Legal Institute on April 24-27 in Louisville at a estimated cost of $21,000.

The Board of Education voted to approve the reclassification of the Manager of Financial Research and Planning position to a Procurement and Contract Manager position at an annual base salary of $75,000 plus applicable benefits.

The Board of Education voted to grant up to twenty (20) emergency sick leave days to Employee #6094 per School Board Policy #4402.
