Action Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the proposal from Safety National for the District's excess workers compensation vendor at a cost of $152,255. Currently, the District contracts with West Insurance Agency as our broker to obtain Excess Workers Compensation Insurance for the District's self-funded Workers Compensation program. West Insurance has held this contract since 2008. West Insurance currently has Safety National as our Excess Workers Compensation carrier. The current specific self-insured retention is $550,000 and the aggregate excess limit of $2,000,000, with an employer's liability limit of $2,000,000 each occurrence.


Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of one employee and one Board Member listed below to the 2022 National Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) Education Summit in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from October 5 to October 7, 2022 at a estimated cost of $2,050 per person, for a total cost of $$4,100. Cost includes airfare, lodging, registration fees, and per diem. Individuals approved include: Lucy Leguizamo and Carolina Fabian. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments of four individuals. 

 

Information

The Board of Education reviewed revisions to Board Policy 8002-2022 - Interim COVID Health and Safety Policies (6 Month Review).

The Board of Education reviewed the 2022/2023 Parent/Student Handbook on Rights and Responsibilities.  


Workshop

The Board participated in a lengthy discussion regarding recommended changes to Policy 5301, Graduation Requirements. No action was taken, and the item will be up for vote at a later meeting.
