Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 has been recognized with a Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the 2023-2024 budget year from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).

The Meritorious Budget Award recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and recognizes District 60 for the preparation and issuance of its budget. According to ASBO, the recognition shows District 60’s “commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies.”

As part of the recognition process, participants submit their budget applications to ASBO’s panel of financial professionals for review, during which they are assessed for compliance with the MBA Criteria Checklist and other requirements. As an MBA awardee, District 60’s financial team demonstrated that the District has successfully met the necessary program requirements.

Evaluators praised the District's budget document for its thoroughness and described the document as “an excellent document that includes a wealth of information in graphic and narrative form. The budget document is professional in appearance and informative to the

reader. It is user-friendly for the average taxpayer with an abundance of data to meet

varied readers’ needs.”

This marks the 7th year that District 60 has been recognized with the Meritorious Budget Award.
